Campus Emergency Updates

Tuesday, November 11, 2025 update:

Due to potentially hazardous road conditions early this morning, classes at the main campus in Cullowhee and at the Biltmore Instructional Site will be suspended until 11:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, November 11, 2025. After this time, all classes will return to their regular schedule.
Cat Tran will resume running at 10:00am
.

Please exercise discretion and good judgment in deciding whether to attempt travel during hazardous conditions.

Use your own discretion when it comes to your ability to travel safely to campus.

  • Drive slowly and keep a safe distance from the car in front of you. Give yourself plenty of time to stop and avoid all distractions.
  • Shaded areas melt much more slowly than those exposed to direct sunlight. Use caution.
  • Areas that may look wet could be ice – use caution.

Online classes are not affected by weather-related changes to the regular class schedule.  Commuting students concerned about making it to campus safely should contact their instructor.  Staff and faculty concerned about being able to safely commute to work should contact their supervisor.

University offices will be open on a normal schedule and will be operating under Condition Level 1 - Reduced Operations (University is Open).

All WCU employees should be familiar with the Adverse Weather Policy, Policy #41.
Commuting faculty and staff should exercise discretion and good judgment in deciding whether to attempt travel during hazardous conditions. Questions about the policy may be directed to the Office of Human Resources at HumanResources@wcu.edu.
