Whether you are looking for a traditional, four-year program or hoping to progress from an RN to a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN), WCU offers a variety of award-winning nursing programs to fit your need. Western Carolina University's School of Nursing sets out to meet the continually growing demand for baccalaureate-prepared nurses across the state of North Carolina, particularly in the westernmost counties. Courses are offered in Cullowhee and at our Biltmore Park instructional site in Asheville.

Undergraduate Pre-Licensure Options

If you’re getting ready to go to college, or if you’re interested in transferring from another institution, we offer the following undergraduate pre-licensure options:

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is our traditional, four-year pre-licensure track. 

Our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is designed specifically for post-baccalaureate individuals who want to pursue a career in nursing.

The WNC RIBN program is a four-year ADN to BSN dual-enrollment course of study offered in collaboration between WCU and one of the following community colleges: A-B Technical Community College, Blue Ridge Community College and Southwestern Community College.

   

Degree Tracks for RNs

If you are already a licensed Registered Nurse (RN), the following degree tracks are availabe to you:

Our RN to BSN program adds value to previous education and existing practice, preparing you for leadership roles and for graduate opportunities.

The MS(N) Early-Entry option is designed to assist selected RNs with good academic records to move smoothly through the RN to BSN curriculum directly into MS(N) study for advanced nursing roles.
