The sessions provide an opportunity for university employees to have a photo made for departmental websites and other official uses.

Some 377 athletes of all ages crossed the finish line during the races held on campus Saturday, April 6.  


WCU's John Whitmire named recipient of UNC Board of Governors teaching honor

He will receive the award and deliver remarks during the university's morning undergraduate commencement Saturday, May 11.

He will present two new books on which he collaborated – “Unwriting Maya Literature: Ts'íib as Recorded Knowledge” and a poetry collection​, “Snichimal Vayuchil.”

Reitz presents research at Women Composers Festival of Hartford

Christina L. Reitz, WCU associate professor of music, presented her research “Baroque Tradition in the Works of Shaw” at the Women Composers Festival of Hartford, which convened at Trinity College in Connecticut on March 28-29.

Title reclaimed - The view from the top is great!

Western Carolina University has been voted the “Top Adventure College” in a Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine online readers’ poll, reflecting the popularity of, and pride in, local outdoor activities. The contest began Feb. 25 and had regional colleges and universities meeting in head-to-head matchups in a 32-school bracket, with WCU and Lees-McRae College, last year’s titleholder, moving on to the championship final.
